Style of photography
If photography is really important to you, it's not an easy task choosing. Most professional photographers would argue that finding the style of photography you love is the first step to choosing the right one for you. So, consider this: Do the images/ galleries you are looking through have any style? Do they speak to you and move you, tell you stories? Is the style consistent? Do you have to ask the photographer to describe their style? It should jump out and grab you!
Personality of photographer
Getting along with your photographer is the next step. Especially for weddings, the photographer is intimately involved with most aspects of the day, the more at ease you are, the more natural, real and meaningful your images will be. Someone experienced, friendly, fun, discreet, and generally great at making people relax.
Pricing for photography
The value is not the hours of coverage, or slideshows, or packaging, or number of parent albums. It's is in the actual photographs. They will last forever, never need up-grading, and will never be able to be replaced.
Don't get me wrong, of course budget is a huge consideration. The balance between how important your photos are, how precious they will become and how much you are willing/ able to invest? But my advice is don't get bogged down counting the bells and whistles in all the different packages on offer.
