I met Jennifer last week at her beautiful new boutique. So warm and welcoming, she is always happy to offer advice to brides on the hunt for their dream wedding dress and here’s a sneak peek of some of her top tips...
Budget – setting a budget is super important and you need to do this before you start shopping. Be sure to tell the sales consultant your price range before you get started and unless you are willing to stretch your budget don’t try on a dress you can’t afford.
Entourage – never underestimate the importance of choosing the right people to go wedding dress shopping with you. This is probably the most important and expensive clothing item you’ll ever purchase so you’ll need supportive and considerate people who know you and your personal style. I would suggest two – three people including a family member, Mother, Sister, Auntie or best friend. If you have a large bridal party don’t feel pressured to invite them all along. Instead invite them to see your dress once you’ve found ‘the one’ so they still feel included in the process.
Undergarments – I always ask brides to wear well-fitting underwear and a strapless bra to their appointments. Having the right underwear can drastically change the appearance of your figure so why wouldn’t you want to look your best?!
Trust your instincts – it’s true that many brides end up buying the first dress they try on. So if you’ve been to 2-3 shops and still love that first dress then it’s probably the one. Don’t second guess it, it can be that easy and just trust your instincts. If you try it a second time and still love it just as much then go for it.
